Privacy
CompIQ holds photographs of your cards and a record of what you own. This says what is kept, what it is used for, and how to make it stop.
What is stored
- Your account. An email address, a password stored only as an argon2id hash, and — if you turn it on — a two-factor secret and hashed recovery codes. We cannot read your password.
- Your cards. What you have filed, what you paid, and the valuations we produced for them.
- Your photographs. Every face you upload for a scan, in private storage. They are not public and are served to you through links that expire.
- What the model said. The identification, how sure it was, and any correction you made. Corrections are the only thing that makes the identifier better, which is the whole reason the product asks.
Training on your photographs
A copy of a scan is used to improve card identification only if you have turned training consent on. It is off when an account is created. You can switch it off again at any time in Settings, and doing so removes the copies already taken.
Before a copy is stored for training, two things happen to it. All EXIF metadata is removed — a phone photograph carries the coordinates of wherever it was taken, and that is nobody’s business. And the file is named from a one-way hash, so no email address, username or account id appears in the filename or alongside the image.
What we never do
- Sell your data, or share it with advertisers.
- Use your photographs for training without consent.
- Write your email address into our logs.
- Scan without an account. There is no anonymous intake — a photograph with no owner is one nobody can consent to, correct, or ask us to delete.
Other services
Card valuations come from eBay’s public listing data. Player and team information comes from ESPN. Identification runs on Google Cloud, in our own project — your photographs are not sent to a third-party AI vendor.
Deleting your account
Email privacy@bgcompiq.com and we will delete your account, your cards and every photograph belonging to it, including any training copies. If you would rather keep the account and only remove the training copies, switching consent off does that by itself.
Changes
If what we do with your data changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and anyone with an account is told before it takes effect.
